1. What is open and shareable
The KJV–Nestle Text reader is intended for open Christian study, family review, quotation, teaching, and non-commercial redistribution. You may share copies, quote passages, print extracts, and make non-commercial adaptations, provided attribution is preserved and changes are clearly marked.
2. Content license
The project’s edited KJV–Nestle wording, textual notes, change explanations, selection, arrangement, and reader-specific written content are released under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), unless a specific file says otherwise.
- Attribution: credit “KJV–Nestle Text” and link back to the reader where practical.
- NonCommercial: do not use the material primarily for commercial advantage or monetary compensation.
- ShareAlike: if you adapt this project’s content and share it, use the same license for your adapted content.
3. Non-monetization boundary
Without written permission, you may not monetize the KJV–Nestle Text content through sales, subscriptions, paid downloads, advertising-supported republishing, paid app stores, commercial datasets, commercial AI training products, branded merchandise, or paywalled access.
4. Public-domain KJV source boundary
The underlying King James Bible text used as a source is public-domain material in many jurisdictions. This policy does not claim ownership over public-domain KJV wording by itself. The non-commercial restriction applies to this project’s edited wording, notes, change list, explanations, compilation, and reader presentation.
5. Software/source code boundary
The reader software shell may be published separately under a permissive open-source software license, but the Bible text, notes, explanations, and change list remain under the non-commercial content policy above unless explicitly stated otherwise.
6. Permission requests
For commercial, fundraising, publishing, app-store, dataset, AI-training, or other monetized uses, ask for written permission first. Permission can be granted for uses that serve the project’s mission and protect the text from exploitation.
